Heating and cooling services · Canberra, ACT
Canberra’s frosty winters and hot, dry summers work a system hard at both ends of the year. Our licensed technicians handle air conditioning service, repair and installation across Canberra: split systems, ducted reverse cycle heating and cooling, gas ducted heating and evaporative cooling, from Belconnen and Gungahlin to Tuggeranong. Every service covers the whole system, indoor and outdoor, with the readings written down, for a flat fee agreed before we start, on any brand.
Every visit includes
Air conditioning service · Canberra, ACT
Every reverse cycle split system we service in Canberra gets the same 12-point check, indoor and outdoor, for one flat fee. It is air conditioning maintenance that pays off twice here, because the same unit carries your cooling in January and your heating in July. If a check fails, we stop, show you, and quote the repair before any extra work. Ducted heating, gas heating and evaporative cooling services follow their own checklists, and every gas heater gets a carbon monoxide test.
We start by listening and watching the system run. Most faults give themselves away before a single panel is removed.
Rattles, musty smells, water marks, fault codes, the bedroom that never warms up. You live with the system, so we start with what you've noticed.
Both modes on high fan. We record airflow, noise and smell first, so there is something to compare after the clean.
Power isolated and tagged at the outdoor unit. Drop sheets under the indoor unit, shoe covers on.
Filters, coil face and outdoor unit, so you can see the difference for yourself.
Where dust, spring pollen and mould collect, and where most smells and leaks begin.
Inspected for tears and warping too. A filter that doesn't sit flat lets dust past and onto the coil.
Cleaner worked through the fins and rinsed off, so air passes through the whole coil instead of around a clogged patch.
The fan behind the louvres. Dark build-up here is what blows musty air and black flecks into the room.
Flushed, then tested with water. A sluggish drain is the usual cause of water running down the wall.
The half most services skip. In Canberra it sits through hard frosts on winter mornings and dry heat all summer.
Leaves, lint and cobwebs cleared and the coil washed through. A blocked coil runs hot in summer and gives less heat on a frosty morning.
Fan blades, mounts, vibration pads and pipe insulation inspected, electrical terminals tightened.
Gauges connected and air temperature measured in and out. That is the proof the system is heating and cooling as it should.
Readings, photos and any recommendations explained before we go. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
When to book in Canberra
Service before the season, not in the middle of it. Canberra’s heating season is a long one, with frosts from autumn well into spring, and summer still brings runs of days in the high 30s. Most homes lean on one reverse cycle system for both, so the right time for an air conditioning service in Canberra depends on which season matters more in your house. As a rule, service a split system once a year, or twice if it works hard in both. A ducted gas heating service is due at least every two years, and an evaporative cooling service belongs before the first hot spell.

Now booking in Canberra: pre-summer services, September to Novemberpre-winter services, March to May.
Book your heater service between March and May, and earlier is better in Canberra. A reverse cycle or gas ducted system that sat idle all summer shows its faults on the first frosty night, when every technician in town is already booked out.
Book between September and November, before the first run of 35-degree days. That is when a dirty outdoor coil or an unserviced evaporative cooler turns into a breakdown and a hot night.
Service twice a year, once before each season. Canberra's grass pollen season runs from October to December and loads filters and coil faces quickly. A clean coil means cleaner air in the room.
Not cooling, not heating, leaking or noisy? We find the fault on-site and fix most problems in one visit.
A full clean and tune-up that keeps your system efficient, extends its life and helps protect your warranty.
An on-site assessment of your rooms and layout, then a clear quote for the right-sized system.
A deep clean of coils, fans and drains to clear mould, dust and odours from the system.
A safety test of your gas heater and flue. Included as standard with every gas heater service.
Moving a system to a new wall or room, including new pipework and recommissioning.
A written report on damage to your system for insurance claims after storms, floods or power surges.

What a service includes, what it costs, how often to book and what to do about gas heating. These are the questions Canberra homeowners, landlords and businesses ask us most.

Every split system service follows the same 12-step checklist:
You get a written report with the readings and photos. If a check fails, we show you and quote the repair before any extra work.
Servicing is a fixed flat fee: $259 for new customers and $249 for returning customers, applied automatically. The price is the same for any brand of air conditioner. If we find something that needs more work, you get a clear quote first and nothing goes ahead without your approval.
At least once a year. Most Canberra homes rely on one reverse cycle system for a long heating season and a hot summer, so if yours works hard in both, service it twice a year: before winter and before summer. Homes with pets, hay fever or a lot of dust also benefit from air conditioning maintenance every six months.
Before the season, not during it. Book a heater service between March and May, before the first hard frost. Book a pre-summer air conditioning service between September and November, before the first run of hot days. Bookings fill quickly once a cold snap or heatwave arrives, so booking early saves you a wait.
Yes. A reverse cycle split system is a heater as well as an air conditioner, and in Canberra it usually works harder in winter than in summer. Every service tests it in both modes. We also check that the outdoor unit defrosts properly, which matters on frosty mornings anywhere from Gungahlin to Tuggeranong.
Yes. We service ducted reverse cycle systems of all sizes. A ducted service includes:
That keeps every room heating and cooling evenly. Gas ducted heating has its own service, covered in the next question.
Yes. Many Canberra homes still heat with gas ducted heating or a gas wall furnace. Carbon monoxide has no smell or colour, and a poorly maintained gas heater can leak it into your home. Our licensed gasfitters carry out your gas heater service and test for carbon monoxide with calibrated equipment. The test is standard with every gas heating service, and you get the results in writing.
A service is routine maintenance that keeps a working system clean, efficient and reliable. A repair is for a fault: no heating or cooling, leaks, noise or error codes. For air conditioner and heater repairs we find the cause on site, quote the fix and repair most problems in one visit. Regular servicing is the best way to avoid them.
