Air conditioner damaged by a storm, lightning strike, power surge or motor burnout? Your insurer will usually ask for a written report from a licensed technician before assessing the claim. We inspect the system on-site and provide an air conditioning insurance report that sets out what failed, the likely cause and whether it can be repaired, plus a replacement quote if needed.

An insurer needs three things from a technician: what has failed, what caused it and whether the system can be repaired. Our insurance report answers all three after an on-site inspection of the indoor and outdoor units. Tap a number to see what we assess.
Most home and contents policies cover an air conditioner for insured events such as storm, lightning and power surge, and many offer motor burnout insurance, sometimes called fusion cover, as an optional extra. What policies generally don’t cover is wear and tear. That is why your insurer wants an independent report before deciding a claim: it needs to know what failed and what caused it.
An All Good insurance report is a detailed written assessment from a licensed technician who has inspected and tested your system on-site. It is a fixed flat fee of $199 for new customers and $189 for returning customers. If the unit cannot be repaired, we include a replacement quote for your insurer.
Brand, model, serial number and approximate age of the system.
Coil, fan and electronics checked for damage.
Leaks and water damage to the unit and its surrounds noted.
Compressor, fan motor and casing checked for burnout, impact and storm damage.
What failed, the likely cause and whether it can be repaired or needs replacing.
Control boards, wiring and motors tested for surge and burnout damage.
Ducted systems take damage where you can’t see it. A storm can send water through the roof onto the indoor unit, soak or crush the ductwork, or burn out the control board and zone motors with a power surge. For a ducted air conditioning insurance report we inspect the roof-space or underfloor unit, the ducts and the outdoor unit, so your insurer gets a full account of the damage and not only the part that stopped working.
Indoor unit, drain tray and wiring checked for water and surge damage.
Crushed, soaked or torn ducts recorded room by room.
Zone motors, controllers and sensors tested for electrical damage.
Once your system is running again, we can help keep it that way. From air conditioner servicing and cleaning to installation quotes and carbon monoxide testing, the same licensed technicians handle it all.
Same-day or next-day diagnosis. We find the fault on-site, explain your options, and fix most problems in one visit with the major parts we carry.
An on-site assessment and detailed quote for a new system. The quote fee is credited if you go ahead with the install.
A safety test of your gas heating system and flue lines. Included as standard in every gas heater service, or book it on its own.
A full checklist tune-up that keeps your unit running efficiently, extends its life, and helps maintain your manufacturer warranty. Additional unit on the same visit.
There's no need to check whether your brand is covered. If it heats or cools, we can work on it.

What home insurance usually covers, what motor burnout cover is, what the report costs and what it includes. The questions we hear most about air conditioner insurance claims.

Usually, yes, for insured events. Fixed systems such as split and ducted air conditioners are generally treated as part of the building, so home insurance typically covers them for things like storm, lightning, fire and impact. Wear and tear and lack of maintenance are generally not covered. Check your Product Disclosure Statement or ask your insurer, as cover varies between policies.
Start by checking your policy and lodging a claim with your insurer, who will give you a claim number. Most insurers then ask for a written report from a licensed technician stating what failed and what caused it, often with a repair or replacement quote. We provide that report after inspecting the system. The insurer makes the decision on the claim.
Motor burnout insurance, also called fusion cover, covers electric motors that burn out because of an electrical fault or power surge, such as an air conditioner’s compressor or fan motor. It is usually an optional extra on a home policy and often has an age limit on the motor. Our report states whether the motor has burnt out and the likely cause.
It depends on the unit. Fixed split and ducted systems are generally covered under building insurance, not contents. Portable air conditioners are usually treated as contents. If you rent, the fixed system is normally the property owner’s to insure. Your insurer can confirm how your policy treats it.
Often, if the leak was sudden and unexpected, such as a burst or blocked drain that floods a ceiling. Damage from a slow leak over time, or from a unit that has not been maintained, is generally not covered. Our report records where the water came from and what caused the leak, which is what the insurer needs to assess it.
An insurance report is a fixed flat fee: $199 for new customers and $189 for returning customers, applied automatically. Some insurers reimburse the cost of the report as part of the claim, so it is worth asking yours.
A detailed written assessment covering the system’s brand, model and age, what we inspected and tested, what has failed, the likely cause of the damage and whether the unit can be repaired. If it cannot be repaired, we include a replacement quote.
No. The report is an independent technical assessment, and we record what we find, including when the cause is wear and tear. Your insurer decides the claim based on the report and the terms of your policy.
Yes. Someone 18 or older should be there to provide access to the indoor and outdoor units and to tell us what happened. Have your claim number handy if you have one, so we can include it in the report.
