Split system service · NSW

What a split system air conditioner service in NSW actually covers.

Every split system we service in NSW, from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle and Wollongong, goes through the same 12-point check, indoor and outdoor, for one flat fee. Think of it as air conditioning maintenance built for Sydney’s humidity: a deep clean, then measured proof the system is working. If a check fails, we stop, show you, and quote the repair before any extra work. Ducted air conditioning and gas heater services follow their own checklists, including a carbon monoxide test on gas appliances.

Before a panel comes off

We watch and listen first. A system usually tells you what's wrong before anyone opens it.

Start with your notes

Rattles, odours, drips, flashing codes, the room that stays stuffy. You hear it every day, so your account comes first.

Run cooling and heating

Each mode on high fan. Airflow, noise and smell go on record before the clean changes them.

Power down, cover up

Isolator switched off and tagged. Drop sheets under the unit and shoe covers on before we start.

Photograph it as found

Filters, coil face and outdoor unit, so you can compare before and after.

The indoor unit

In humid NSW weather this is where mould takes hold, and where most smells and leaks begin.

Filters pulled and washed

Then checked for splits and warping. A filter that doesn't sit flush lets dust straight through to the coil.

Evaporator coil deep cleaned

Coil cleaner worked between the fins and rinsed away, so air moves through the full coil and not just the clear patches.

Barrel fan cleaned

It sits behind the louvres. The black film that builds up here is what blows a musty smell and dark flecks into the room.

Drain tray and pipe flushed

Then tested with water. In a humid summer a split system pulls litres of water from the air, and a blocked drain sends it down your wall.

The outdoor unit and testing

The half most services skip. In NSW it takes salt air on the coast and 40-degree days in the west.

Condenser coil washed

Leaves, lint and cobwebs cleared and the coil rinsed through. A clogged coil can't shed heat, so the system runs hot and cuts out.

Fan, mounts and wiring checked

Fan blades, brackets, vibration pads and pipe insulation inspected for wear and corrosion, electrical terminals tightened.

Pressures and temperatures

Gauges connected, air temperature measured in and out. The readings show whether the system is really performing.

Report and walkthrough

Readings, photos and any recommendations talked through before we leave. No extra work without your go-ahead.

When to book in Victoria

When to book an air conditioning service in NSW.

Service before the season, not in the middle of it. In NSW cooling is the big job: Sydney summers are long and humid, and Western Sydney regularly passes 40 degrees. Winter is milder on the coast, but the same reverse cycle system still does the heating, and it works harder the further you live from the sea. As a rule, book air conditioning maintenance once a year, before summer, or twice if the system heats the house as well. Gas heaters should be serviced at least every two years.

You heat with it too

Book a pre-winter service between March and May. A reverse cycle system that has cooled all summer goes straight into heating, and a worn part shows up on the first cold night, when technicians across NSW are booked out.

Cooling is the main job

Book between September and November, before the first heatwave. Once Sydney hits a run of hot days, a dirty outdoor coil turns into a system that trips, and the wait for an air conditioning repair gets long.

Allergies, asthma or pets

Service twice a year, once before each season. Spring pollen loads the filters from October, then summer humidity lets mould grow on a dirty coil. A clean coil means cleaner air in the room.

Service FAQs · NSW

Air Conditioning & Heating in NSW, Answered.

What a service covers, what it costs, how often to book and what humidity and salt air do to a system. These are the questions NSW homeowners, landlords and businesses ask us most.

Which areas of NSW do you service?

We service homes and businesses across NSW. In Sydney that covers the CBD and inner city, the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Hills District, Western Sydney, the south-west, St George and the Sutherland Shire. Beyond Sydney we cover the Central Coast, Newcastle and the Hunter, and Wollongong and the Illawarra. Use the town checker on this page, or ask when you book and we’ll confirm.

Every split system service follows the same 12-step checklist:

  • wash the filters and deep clean the indoor coil and barrel fan
  • flush the drain tray and pipe, then test them with water
  • wash the outdoor condenser coil
  • check the fan, mounts and wiring for wear and corrosion
  • log pressures and air temperatures in both cooling and heating

You get a written report with the readings and photos. If a check fails, we show you and quote the repair before any extra work.

Servicing and preventative maintenance is a fixed flat fee: $259 for new customers and $249 for returning customers, applied automatically. The price is the same for any brand of air conditioner. If we find something that needs more work, you get a clear quote first and nothing goes ahead without your approval.

At least once a year, ideally before summer. Sydney’s humidity lets mould build up on the indoor coil faster than in drier climates, so regular air conditioning maintenance matters here. Service twice a year if the same system heats your home in winter, if you live close to the coast where salt air reaches the outdoor unit, or if you have pets, asthma or allergies in the house.

Before the season, not during it. Book a pre-summer service between September and November, before the first heatwave. Book a pre-winter service between March and May if you heat with the same system. Once Sydney gets a run of hot days, bookings fill quickly and the wait for air conditioning repairs grows, so booking early saves you a hot week.

Yes. A reverse cycle split system is a heater as well as an air conditioner, and most NSW homes use it for both. Every service tests the system in cooling and in heating. We also check that the outdoor unit defrosts properly, which matters on cold mornings in Western Sydney and the Hunter.

Yes. We service ducted air conditioning of all sizes, from single-storey homes to large two-storey systems. A ducted service includes:

  • cleaning the return-air filter
  • checking the indoor fan coil and duct connections
  • testing the zone motors and controller
  • cleaning and checking the outdoor unit

That keeps every room cooling and heating evenly, upstairs and down.

Yes. Carbon monoxide has no smell or colour, and a poorly maintained gas heater can leak it into your home. Our licensed gasfitters carry out your gas heater service and test for carbon monoxide with calibrated equipment. The test is standard with every gas heater service, and you get the results in writing.

A service is routine maintenance that keeps a working system clean, efficient and reliable. A repair is for a fault: no cooling or heating, leaks, noise or error codes. For air conditioning repairs we find the cause on site, quote the fix and repair most problems in one visit. Regular servicing is the best way to avoid them.
