Rinnai specialists
Rinnai is best known for gas heaters, and it also makes split and ducted air conditioners. We look after both. Our licensed technicians service, clean, repair and install Rinnai gas heaters and air conditioners, with a fixed price agreed before any work starts.
Every Rinnai system
Whether it’s an Energysaver on the lounge room wall or a Rinnai split system in the bedroom, our technicians know how Rinnai systems are built and what tends to go wrong with them. These are the Rinnai systems we work on most.
Gas space heaters, including Avenger and Dynamo models, serviced and tested for carbon monoxide.
Power-flued Energysaver gas heaters cleaned, tested and repaired, including fan and ignition faults.
Dust-clogged filters and fans are the main reason a Rinnai gas heater overheats or cuts out. We strip and clean them.
Wall-mounted Rinnai split system air conditioners and multi-split systems, serviced, cleaned and repaired.
Ducted reverse cycle heating and cooling, and gas ducted heating, including zoned systems.
Fault-finding Rinnai remotes, thermostats and wall controllers that show an error or stop responding.
Rinnai gas heaters that are no longer made. We repair them where it's worth it and tell you honestly when it isn't.
Installing new Rinnai gas heaters and split systems, or replacing an old heater with a current model.
Common Rinnai faults
Most Rinnai problems start small: an error code on the heater, a filter light that won’t go out, a split that isn’t keeping up. These are the faults we fix most often, and what usually causes them.
On a Rinnai gas heater, codes 11 and 12 usually point to an ignition or flame fault. We find out why it isn’t lighting or staying lit and fix the cause.
Weak airflow or lukewarm air from a Rinnai split usually comes down to blocked filters, dirty coils, low refrigerant or a failing part.
Drips from the indoor unit are almost always a blocked or badly graded drain line. We clear it, check the fall and stop it happening again.
A heater that shuts down after a few minutes, or smells of gas or fumes, should be turned off and checked. Blocked filters and fans are common causes, and we test for carbon monoxide.
When to service
The best time for a Rinnai service is just before you need the system most. Book the gas heater in autumn and the air conditioner in spring, so a weak igniter or a blocked drain is found before the first cold snap or heatwave, when everyone is calling at once.
Each season’s service focuses on the system you’re about to rely on, and you get a written report at the end.
Get your Rinnai split or ducted system cooling properly before the first hot week.
Make sure your Rinnai gas heater lights first time and burns safely before the cold sets in.

Get the clarity you need
At least every two years, including a carbon monoxide test. Rinnai split and ducted air conditioners are best serviced once a year.
Keeping the system maintained is part of looking after your warranty. Every visit comes with a written report, so keep it with your purchase paperwork in case you ever need to make a claim.
Codes 11 and 12 usually mean the heater hasn’t lit or the flame has gone out. Check the gas is on and try once more. If the code comes back, turn the heater off and book a check.
Turn the heater off and let it cool, then vacuum or wipe the filter, following the manual for your model. If the heater still cuts out or the filter light stays on, the inside needs a proper clean, which is part of a service.
About an hour for most gas heaters, including the carbon monoxide test. A split system takes about an hour per indoor unit.
Gas space heaters, Energysaver flued heaters, gas ducted heating, and Rinnai split, multi-split and ducted air conditioners.
If the heater is under about ten years old and the fault is minor, a repair is usually worth it. For older heaters facing a big repair, we’ll give you both prices so you can decide.
