Coolair specialists
Coolair evaporative coolers are built by Seeley International, the Australian company behind Breezair and Braemar, and we look after the whole range. Our licensed technicians service, clean, repair and install Coolair evaporative coolers, with a fixed price agreed before any work starts.
Every Coolair cooler
Whether it’s a small CPQ450 on a unit or a CPQ1100 cooling a big family home, our technicians know how Coolair coolers are built and what tends to go wrong with them. This is the Coolair work we do most.
Rooftop ducted evaporative cooling across the CPQ range, from the CPQ450 up to the CPQ1100.
Pads cleaned, tank flushed, pump and drain valve tested before summer, so the cooler starts first time.
Chillcel pads that are scaled up, sagging or smelly replaced to restore airflow and cooling.
Repairing water pumps, inlet solenoids and drain valves, and fixing tanks that leak onto the roof.
Draining the tank, isolating the water and covering the cooler until the warm weather comes back.
Fault-finding Coolair wall controllers, including service codes that keep coming back after a reset.
Earlier Coolair coolers that have done a lot of summers. We repair them where it's worth it and tell you honestly when it isn't.
Swapping an old cooler for a new Coolair on the existing ducts, or a full new installation.
Common Coolair faults
Most Coolair problems start small: a service code on the wall controller, air that feels warm, a drip from the roof. These are the faults we fix most often, and what usually causes them.
A service code, such as Service 2, means the cooler has detected a fault and shut down. We read the code, find the cause and fix it, so it stays cleared.
If the air isn’t cold, the pads usually aren’t getting wet. A failed pump, a blocked water line or scaled-up pads are the common causes.
Water running down the roof or a cooler that keeps dumping water points to a stuck drain valve, a faulty solenoid or a cracked tank.
Rumbling means worn bearings or a tired motor. A musty smell means stale water or dirty pads, which a proper clean sorts out.
When to service
The best time for a Coolair evaporative cooler service is spring, a few weeks ahead of the first hot spell. It catches a seized pump or scaled-up pads before the heatwave, when everyone is calling at once. In autumn, a shutdown service drains and covers the cooler for winter.
Either way you get a written report at the end, covering the pads, pump, motor and controller.
Get your Coolair evaporative cooler running clean and cold before the first hot week.
Drain, clean and cover the cooler so it's protected over winter and ready for next season.

Get the clarity you need
Once a year, ideally in spring before you start using it. In areas with hard water or a lot of dust, the pads may need attention more often.
Keeping the system maintained is part of looking after your warranty. Every visit comes with a written report, so keep it with your purchase paperwork in case you ever need to make a claim.
A service code means the cooler has found a fault and stopped to protect itself. Turn it off at the wall controller, wait a few minutes and try again. If the code returns, book a check.
Usually the pads aren’t getting wet, because of a failed pump, a blocked water line or heavy scale. Evaporative cooling also needs some windows or doors open to work properly.
About an hour for most homes. It takes longer if the pads need replacing or the unit hasn’t been serviced for several years.
The whole CPQ range, including the CPQ450, CPQ700, CPQ850 and CPQ1100, along with older Coolair coolers and their wall controllers.
If the cooler is under about ten years old and the fault is minor, a repair is usually worth it. For older coolers facing a big repair, we’ll give you both prices so you can decide.
