Systems · Ducted reverse cycle
Ducted reverse cycle air conditioning installation, service and repairs across Australia. One system heats and cools every room through discreet vents, and zoning lets you run only the rooms you need.
At a glance
What is ducted air conditioning?
Ducted air conditioning uses a central indoor unit, usually in the roof space, connected to an outdoor unit. Insulated ducts carry conditioned air from the indoor unit to vents in each room.
A ducted reverse cycle system heats as well as cools, so it replaces separate heaters and coolers. You may also hear it called ducted refrigerated air conditioning or ducted heating and cooling.
In the roof space
The indoor unit draws air from the house through a return air grille and passes it over a cold coil.
In the ducts
Insulated ducts carry the cooled air to ceiling vents in each zone.
Outside
Refrigerant carries the heat to the outdoor unit, which releases it outside.
Outside
The outdoor unit collects heat from the outside air, even on a cold day.
In the roof space
Refrigerant carries that heat to the indoor unit, which warms air drawn from the house.
In the ducts
Insulated ducts carry the warm air to vents in each zone.
Benefits
Cool every room now, and the same ducted reverse cycle system will heat the house in winter.Heat every room now, and the same ducted reverse cycle system will cool the house in summer.
Run the living areas by day and the bedrooms at night instead of the whole house.
Only the vents and a wall controller are on show. There are no wall units in any room.
Air is delivered to every room, so the whole house sits at the temperature you set.
The indoor unit sits in the roof space, away from the rooms you live and sleep in.
Where it suits
With three or more bedrooms, one ducted system is tidier than a wall unit in every room.
Ducts are easiest to run before the ceilings are closed, so plan it early.
Zone upstairs and downstairs separately so each level gets the airflow it needs.
Large open spaces get air from several vents instead of one wall unit.
